    About Vectren



    Vectren Energy Delivery (Vectren) is a subsidiary of CenterPoint Energy, headquartered in Houston, Texas. Vectren provides gas and/or electricity to more than 1 million customers in adjoining service territories that cover nearly two-thirds of Indiana and about 20% of Ohio, primarily in the west-central area.

    Vectren utility operations delivers gas and/or electricity to more than one million customers in adjoining service territories that cover two-thirds of Indiana and west central Ohio. Vectren is also a low-cost provider of wholesale electricity to other utilities and power marketers in the Midwest.

    Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana - North provides energy delivery services to 580,000 natural gas customers located in central and southern Indiana. Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana - South provides energy delivery services to 144,000 electric customers and 111,000 gas customers located in southwestern Indiana. Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana - South also owns and operates electric generation to serve its electric customers and optimizes those assets in the wholesale power market. Energy Delivery of Ohio provides energy delivery services to approximately 314,000 natural gas customers located in west central Ohio.

    Vectren's electric customers are served by a mixed portfolio of 1,000 megawatts (MW) of coal-fired generation and up to 245 MW of gas-fired generation, along with 3 MW from a landfill gas to electric project and 80 MW of wind power. Also, purchases from the Ohio Valley Electric Corporation (OVEC) of up to 32 MW and additional load from the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) power pool occasionally supplement Vectren load requirements. Furthermore, interruptible load and demand side management initiatives can yield more than 60 MW of energy savings to meet peak demand if needed.

    We maintain the wires, poles and electric infrastructure serving more than 2.5 million metered customers in the greater Houston area and in southwestern Indiana.

    Power generation

    We also own and operate nearly 1,300 megawatts of electric generation capacity in Indiana. Our employees ensure the reliable delivery of electricity generated from power plants and renewable energy resources to homes and businesses.

    Natural gas distribution

    We sell and deliver natural gas to 4.5 million homes and businesses in eight states - Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Texas, including the high-growth areas of Houston and Minneapolis. We're investing in modernizing our natural gas infrastructure and are committed to eliminating cast iron and bare steel pipe in all of our territories.

    Competitive business

    CenterPoint Energy's competitive businesses include natural gas sales and energy-related services; energy efficiency and sustainability solutions; and owning and operating intrastate natural gas pipeline systems. Our competitive energy services footprint spans more than 30 states.

    In Minnesota, our Home Service Plus® is the largest provider of major appliance maintenance and repair services, as well as replacement heating and cooling equipment. We also offer full service and repair plans for heating and cooling systems, along with electric, gas and plumbing lines to Texas customers.
